Medically Based
STRETCH

Developed by a veteran physical therapist, Medically Based STRETCH is a clinical approach to flexibility and functional movement — created for healthcare professionals, exercise physiologists, personal trainers, and stretch specialists to perform at their clinics, independent facilities, or on their own. Now offering in-person classes at our West Erie Fyzical location.

01

Our Philosophy

Medically Based STRETCH was developed by a veteran physical therapist as a comprehensive program for healthcare professionals and movement specialists. Whether you are a physical therapist, PTA, exercise physiologist, personal trainer, or stretch specialist, this program equips you to deliver Medically Based STRETCH services at your clinic, independent facility, or as a standalone practice.

Grounded in anatomy, biomechanics, and therapeutic science, our approach goes beyond traditional flexibility work. We believe in treating the whole person through multiple modalities — stretching, laser therapy, resistance training, and more — to achieve measurable, lasting results that patients can feel and clinicians can document.

Patient education is a core part of our approach — a skilled service that directly improves outcomes and builds long-term patient relationships.

1

Day 1: Foundations + Clinical Application

Module 1: The Philosophy of Medically Based STRETCH

What makes this approach different from general flexibility training. Positioning stretching as both a clinical and performance service. Contraindications review including blood clots, recent surgical history, active vertigo, specific cancers, rheumatological disorders in acute flare-up, and significantly elevated blood pressure.

Module 2: Joint vs. Muscle Stretching

How to distinguish between joint capsule restrictions and muscular limitations. Assessing where the limitation is actually coming from. Practical application for hips, shoulders, spine, and ankles.

Module 3: Movement Assessment & Identifying Restrictions

Quick screens to identify asymmetries and compensations in under five minutes. Using movement analysis tools to support your findings and turn them into a clear plan for each client.

Module 4: Structuring a Stretch Session

Building a consistent, repeatable session that feels premium. Clients maximize their hands-on time by warming up at home beforehand, so sessions go straight into targeted stretching and integration. Creating a session flow that is efficient, effective, and high-value from start to finish.

Module 5: Hands-On Lab — Upper Body + Spine

The afternoon of Day 1 is all hands-on. Practice shoulder, thoracic spine, and cervical spine techniques with a partner while receiving real-time coaching and feedback from all three instructors.

2

Day 2: Advanced Application + Business Integration

Module 6: Lower Body & Full-Body Integration

Hip, knee, ankle, and full kinetic chain stretching. Linking upper and lower body restrictions together and creating full-session flows that address the whole person.

Module 7: Working with Medically Complex Clients

Post-surgical precautions for shoulder, knee, hip, and spine procedures. Red flags and contraindications. How to modify stretches safely and confidently to serve a wider range of clients.

Module 8: Recovery Tools Integration

When and how to integrate Hyperice percussion devices, massage balls, soft tissue tools, and the Hyperice Venom Belt into your sessions. Combining stretch with recovery tools improves outcomes and increases perceived value.

Module 9: Hands-On Lab — Full Session Execution

Perform a complete stretch session from start to finish while receiving real-time coaching and refinement. The goal is to leave this lab feeling confident and efficient enough to start seeing clients immediately.

Module 10: Sales & Client Conversion Training

The module most clinical courses skip entirely. The Patient Trust Matrix for building value before discussing price. The Law of Averages for removing emotion from the selling process. Scripts for memberships, packages, and upgrades you can start using right away.

Case Review: Kim Turner, Exercise Physiologist

Kim shared that becoming a stretch specialist has completely changed the way she helps clients and has opened up more opportunities for her professionally. When she first graduated with her exercise physiology degree, one of her biggest questions was, "What kind of job can I even get with this degree?"

Even though she found a job she enjoyed creating workout programs and wellness routines for a large local company gym, adding hands-on assisted stretching gave her another level of tools to help people. She said that combining stretching with exercise has helped her clients reach their goals faster and, in some cases, achieve results they were not getting from exercise alone. The stretching helps improve movement, flexibility, recovery, and overall performance in a way that works really well alongside personal training.

Kim also shared that adding stretch services has helped her grow financially and professionally. Many clients now come to her for both stretching and personal training, which has increased her schedule and helped her build a larger client base. She has also seen a lot of growth through word-of-mouth referrals because clients are seeing real results and telling others about their experience.

Overall, she feels that becoming a stretch specialist has allowed her to create more value for clients while also creating more career and income opportunities for herself.

Better Together

All Three Services Work Together

STRETCH, Laser Pro, and Longivica Pro are designed to be used together to maximize both client outcomes and sales. Longivica Pro identifies what clients need, STRETCH and laser deliver the treatment, and the biological age score keeps them motivated to return.

Laser Pro

Combine Medically Based STRETCH with laser therapy for enhanced tissue healing and pain reduction. Allocate approximately 15 minutes per modality treatment for optimal scheduling. Our laser training resources complement stretch protocols for a comprehensive treatment approach.

Note: Laser performer requirements vary by state practice act. Some states allow trained technicians; others require a PT or PTA. STRETCH, however, can be performed by anyone.

Learn about Laser Pro

Longivica Pro™

Longivica Pro is an assessment app that evaluates strength, mobility, balance, and cardiovascular longevity measures. It identifies flexibility and mobility deficiencies, then generates fully customizable service recommendations — including stretch therapy. If limited ankle dorsiflexion is noted, the app recommends stretching to improve ankle mobility and squat function.
